The traditionally prepared dried Sceletium was often chewed and the saliva swallowed, but it has also been made into gel caps, teas and tinctures. It has also been used as a snuff and smoked.[5]

History of Kanna

The plant has been used by South African pastoralists and hunter-gatherers as a mood-altering substance from prehistoric times. The first known written account of the plant’s use was in 1662 by Jan van Riebeeck. The traditionally prepared dried Sceletium was often chewed and the saliva swallowed, but it has also been made into gel caps, teas and tinctures. It has also been used as a snuff and smoked.

Sceletium tortuosum is traditionally used to fight stress and depression, relieve pain and alleviate hunger. It has also been reported in studies that it alleviates excessive nocturnal barking in dogs, or meowing in cats, in pets diagnosed with dementia.

*****5 stars! This product has been fantastic for helping me through some tough times……. as well as my every day “go-to” when I’m facing numerous challenges. It truly helps calm my anxiety, keeping me calm and focused. I never want to be without it!. I only take it as needed but when I do need to take it daily, I am calm as a cucumber! I love the fact that I do not feel like I have taken anything, nor do I get drouzey. If I feel anxious, I take one and then a little while later I suddenly notice that I am no longer anxious. Perfect solution and non-habit forming as far as I can tell. Sometimes, if I’m really anxious, I’ll take 2 capsules at one time. Thank you, Proessence! This is the best supplement EVER!!
